I'd recommend these books as an excellent starting point, don't be miss-led by the Dummies title, it's anything but!. I still think this is the best starting point for coming to grips with performance tuning. Available in a boxed set, yes I know it's sql 2000 again, but these books are just so good, every DBA should own them. I'm not so sure on the famous "Inside" series spawning so many volumes, I used to like the one book to carry and I miss the electronic version. |
A useful source of information. Keep up with microsoft technology. A wealth of knowledge for the DBA covering all those non sql things you just might find handy. Long established SQL Server magazine. What's good about both is that you can subscribe to a CD version, without adverts, which has all the content since the magazines started. If you work with enterprise systems and want a heads up on what your storage team might be up to this is a good read. All work and no play ? Source of new and old proper rock music.
